What are the Benefits of Facial Implants?
The decision to have facial implant cosmetic surgery is a very personal one and some of the most common benefits include:
- Improving and enhancing facial contours
- Filling out a face that looks shrunken or tired
- Balancing disproportionate features
- Restoring a more youthful appearance
Facial implants can enhance your appearance and self-confidence, in addition to giving your face a more balanced and pleasing shape. Facial implants can be inserted alone or in conjunction with another cosmetic procedure, such as a facelift, forehead lift or eyelid surgery. Most people find the facial implant procedure provides a very rewarding and beneficial experience.
What Kind of Facial Implants Exist?
Chin Implant Surgery
Insertion of a chin implant may take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. The proper size and shape implant is selected to enhance your appearance and is inserted into a pocket over the front of the jawbone.
Cheek Implants Surgery
Cheek implant surgery usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes. When cheek implants are being placed in conjunction with another cosmetic procedure, such as a facelift, forehead lift or eyelid surgery, the implants may be inserted through the incisions made for those procedures. A pocket is then formed and an implant is inserted.
There are risks involved with any surgical procedure and the specific risks and restrictions after surgery will be discussed in detail at your consultation with Dr. John Obi. Before the surgery, patients are advised to avoid smoking and taking any medications (aspirin, Vitamin E, etc.) that may affect bleeding. There are physical restrictions immediately following the surgery, and usually patients are able to return to normal activities within a few weeks. You will receive detailed post-operative instructions that will be uniquely tailored to you and your surgery.
