What is the IDEAL IMPLANT®?
Finally, beauty without compromise. Now available in our office, the IDEAL IMPLANT® Structured Breast Implant has a natural feel, with the safety of only saline inside for peace of mind. Unlike silicone gel implants that have a high rate of silent rupture and require an MRI scan for detection, with the IDEAL IMPLANT®, you can look in the mirror each day and be confident your implants are intact. After years of research, engineering, product development and a large US clinical trial, the IDEAL IMPLANT® was approved by FDA and Health Canada, and is now available through a limited network of board certified or eligible plastic surgeons.
How Does the IDEAL IMPLANT® Work?
The IDEAL IMPLANT® has a series of implant shells nested together and two separate chambers that hold the saline. This internal structure controls movement of the saline and supports the implant edges to reduce folding and wrinkling. In addition, the implant has been designed to contour to the natural curve of the chest wall. If the IDEAL IMPLANT® ruptures, the saline inside is harmlessly absorbed by the body. In contrast, if a silicone gel implant ruptures, it is “silent” and cannot be detected by looking in the mirror.
What is Breast Implant Removal?
When you first decided to get breast implants, it probably never occurred to you that you would want — or even need — to have your implants removed or replaced down the road. Still, as many as 40,000 women undergo breast implant removal surgery each year.
The reasons for breast implant removal vary but may be a result of implant shifting, wrinkling, rupture, deflation or asymmetry. Some women react adversely to the implant and develop an infection or bleed. A breast cancer diagnosis can also necessitate breast implant removal, as can the presence of calcium deposits in the breasts. Revision breast augmentation due to cosmetic dissatisfaction is common.
Breast implant removal may or may not involve replacing the implants. Many women opt for breast implant removal with replacement because they wish they’d gone bigger. If the implants are not replaced, this surgery is often paired with a breast lift because the breasts will likely sag and droop after implant removal.
